Miniatures 1:12
History
Everyday scenes from across the world
The prime principles in making miniatures require exact detail and accuracy of scale. A ratio of 1:12 has become the international standard. The present Basel collection includes dolls’ houses, shops and workshops. Artists from different countries were commissioned with specific assignments. Such everyday scenes are mostly inspired by historical buildings or events from the 19th and 20th centuries and come from Switzerland, France, Germany, the UK, Italy and the USA.
